The free API previews are for personal use only - for commercial use credits must be purchased.

If you click remove background without credits, the add-in will give you the option to continue using a preview image or buy credits.
- Free previews produce a low resolution, 0.25MP image with the background removed.
- Personal use only, not for commercial use.
- You can use up to 50 free API previews a month using the add-in. You can view how many you have remaining by clicking the remaining credits button in the remove.bg menu and clicking ‘Dashboard’
- If you run out of previews in a month, you will have to top up credits to continue using remove.bg
How do credits work?
Credits enable you to use remove.bg for full resolution cutouts in high quality, for personal and commercial use.
- Removing the background from 1 image uses 1 credit.
- Credits are available as pay as you go or subscription packages.
- You can view how many credits you have remaining and options to buy more as a subscription or pay as you go plan by clicking the ‘remaining credits’ button in the remove.bg add-in menu then ‘Dashboard’.

Questions relating to the PowerPoint add-in
What versions of PowerPoint does this add-in support?
✅ PowerPoint [2019 onwards] for Windows [10 onwards] with VBA enabled.
❌ PowerPoint for macOS (due to a Microsoft limitation)
❌ PowerPoint Online (Office.JS add-ins are prohibited from accessing the file system)
Why is the add-in free?
Firstly, BrightCarbon likes to share our knowledge and skills with the presentation community. We host free masterclasses, have a free blog, provide free resources and even give away an amazing productivity add-in called BrightSlide.
Secondly, by creating an account with remove.bg BrightCarbon may receive a commission on any credits that you purchase. This helps pay for the developers who were involved in designing and developing this add-in.
How do I know that the add-in is secure?
We digitally sign the add-in and associated components with the latest EV (Extended Validation) code-signing certificate. This is issued to us by Sectigo, a global certificate authority. This guarantees that the product we publish reaches you unaltered. In addition, we scan the installer using Microsoft Defender and VirusTotal before we publish it to ensure it’s malware, virus and trojan free. Occasionally, some AV (Anti Virus) products falsely detect add-ins developed using VBA and we work with those companies to correct the situation quickly. If this happens, please contact us as soon an you can.
Are there any technical limitations for the add-in?
The BrightCarbon add-in doesn’t support adding a white background to a photo. It creates a transparent PNG from your selected image and uses that to send to remove.bg for background removal.
What type of images are supported?
The PowerPoint add-in exports your selected image as a PNG to maintain transparency in the case you have a picture in a non-rectangular shape. That is then sent to remove.bg to remove the background and the resulting PNG image is inserted into the slide.
Remove.bg uses AI to remove backgrounds automatically. All photos that have a subject that is clearly meant to be the foreground are supported. For instance, most photos of people, products, animals, cars, and other objects work.
What's the maximum image size the add-in supports?
Before sending your selected image to the remove.bg service the add-in will check that it is no larger than 12MB. If it is, you will be prompted to allow the add-in to scale the image first.
What data does BrightCarbon collect from the add-in?
We currently do not collect any data. We don't see the images you share with the remove.bg service nor collect any other kind of data from you or your PC.
Where can I find the EULA (End User Licence Agreement)?
The EULA is included within the installer. You can view it there and choose to accept or decline. Specific terms of service are applicable for the remove.bg service.
Do I need to be an admin to install the add-in?
No. But you may need to check your organisation's IT policy before installing the add-in.
I'm an IT admin. Can I deploy organisation-wide?
Yes you can. You can use the MSI installer to deploy the add-in to any group of users via your chosen MDM solution, such as Microsoft SCCM, InTune or M365 Cloud Admin. You will need to provide a remove.bg API key to those users so that they may log onto to your remove.bg account and gain access to the service.
Is there an EXE version of the installer?
No. The MSI installer can be used by individuals and IT administrators alike.
What files are installed by the MSI installer?
The installer adds two files to your PC as follows:
removebg.ppam - this is the main add-in component for PowerPoint. It adds the remove.bg UX to the PowerPoint ribbon.
removebg.dll - this is the connector component which handles the image file exchange between your PC and the remove.bg service.
How do I uninstall the PowerPoint add-in?

1. In Windows Start, type “add” and then click Add or remove programs when it appears:
2. In the search field, type remove and then click the elipsis next to the removebg app:
